THE PROMISE

Beverlee Sorensen received a mysterious letter from Diane Lasarzyk, an old co-worker who disappeared more than fifteen years ago while preparing for an explosive expose uncovering a massive financial conspiracy.

The surprising correspondence requested a meeting the next day.

At the appropriate time and place, Beverlee meets Diane, who is extremely nervous, and induces Beverlee to promise her if she’s not able, to secure a journal with historical implications. She also alluded to a hidden treasure. Beverlee, thankful Diane saved her life all those years ago, promised her friend she would help if necessary. Diane suggested Beverlee may never have to honor the promise.

Within weeks, Diane was found dead. Murdered.

With a dear friend and sidekick, Beverlee discovers a pattern of a multi-generational feud  between Diane’s family and another prominent family suffering tragedies of their own.

The connection to this on-going family feud was the infamous Haymarket Riots of the 1880’s.

Beverlee must use her previous skills as an investigative reporter to fulfill her promise, assist in helping end more than a century-long feud, while avoid being harmed herself.
